These works on paper are a study in luminosity. Weese builds the ground by layering thin coats of translucent color. She wipes away the central figure each time in a gesture of carving to reveal the essential shape. As the intensity builds, a visual vibration occurs. The shapes hover and radiate outward—calling the viewer to step through the key-hole, into an inner world.

With degrees in sculpture and painting, Marcia Weese has created many site specific sculptures, fountains and installations across the country and in Germany, including a ‘percent for art’ commission on Lake Michigan north of Chicago.

She is presently working in the monoprint medium, creating luminous sculptural forms that portray an inner radiance. These works on paper reflect the wonder and wisdom of the natural world. Each panel tells a story, painting a portrait of elusive moments that land somewhere between shadow and memory. Her pieces range in scale from the intimate to the monumental.

Weese is currently represented by the following galleries:
Costello Childs Contemporary in Phoenix, AZ
Patton Print Shop at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, CO
